PERESTROIKA 2025

Cotton fabric, acrylic, ink, charcoal, pastel, 170×111 cm

This work visualizes the process of reassembling reality after passing a point of internal singularity. The silhouette is captured at the moment when familiar structures of identity disintegrate, freeing up space for a new configuration of existence. The fragmentary nature of the image becomes a metaphor for a transitional state—that tense interval where the lost integrity has not yet acquired a new form, but has already ceased to be the same. This is not a crisis, but a metamorphosis: just as space reconstructs its geometry at the point of singularity, the personality gains the opportunity to reassemble itself. This work continues my exploration of corporeality in the conditions of transformation, inviting the viewer to experience this universal experience—when, through the disintegration of familiar supports, the opportunity opens up to become the author of one’s own reality.

The work was created for the installation “S_CHAST_E” by the art group SO.8:

— 2025 “Little Red Biennale #5, St. Petersburg

— 2025 “Grey Wigwam, ” curatorial association SEPTEMAS, L. Mantashev Stables, Moscow

IMMERSION

Weightlessness Series

Cyanotype on cotton, silk, pastel, epoxy resin, 45×35cm, 2025

The series explores the connection between the physical and mental through the metaphor of layering. The use of cyanotype on two contrasting materials—thick fabric and transparent silk—creates a visual analogy for the structure of human nature. The dense layer represents the physical body, while the light, translucent one becomes an image of the psyche, emotions, and inner experiences.

The dialogue between these layers visualizes the complex interaction of the material and the ephemeral in a person. The multilayered structure of the works reflects the search for integrity—the harmonious union of bodily experience with the world of feelings and mental processes. Through this artistic method, the viewer is invited to understand their own corporeality as a complex yet integral psychophysical unity.

THE FACETS OF INTEGRITY

Cyanotype on paper, silk 43×32 cm, 2025

The “Spring” series was created during the “Between Water and Sky” spring art residency at the OKAKNOVO Gallery in Konakovo.

Upon arriving at the River Club in April, I felt spring not only all around me, but also within myself. I wanted to express this awakening through creativity, to explore how spring comes not only to nature but also to human life.

This is how this series of works was born, reflecting on inner spring, liberation, and blossoming against all odds. For me, these images have become a metaphor for the journey to oneself—through overcoming, accepting change, and finding inner harmony. I hope this series will resonate with everyone who seeks light even in the most difficult moments of life.

The works are executed using the cyanotype technique on fabric. The blue color, which is the basis of this technique, organically resonates with the name of the residence, “Between Water and Sky.” For me, it symbolizes inner silence, the depth of self-knowledge, and space for renewal—how the sky and water, meeting, create a point of balance and new meanings.

This series is about the eternal return to oneself through overcoming, about creativity as a means of internal transformation. “Inhalation” is liberation, “Awakening” is acceptance of the cyclical nature of life, “Blooming in Spite” is victory over circumstances. Together, they become a metaphor for the path of modern man: through crises and internal winters—to balance, flourishing, and the freedom to be oneself.

FLOWERING IN SPITE OF

SPRING SERIES
50×60cm, 2025, canvas, cyanotype on fabric, plastic.

Flowers bloom on a dead tree. A metaphor for a person’s inner strength—the ability to find resources for growth even in the most seemingly sterile circumstances. Blooming in Spite of is not a denial of pain or difficulties, but the ability to transform them into a source of beauty and creativity. This is about how a person, going through crises, not only preserves themselves, but also reveals new facets of their personality, achieves balance and inner acceptance.

INHALE

SPRING SERIES
41×50cm, 2025 canvas, cyanotype on fabric, plastic.

Blackthorn is a tangle of fears, pain, and limitations that bind a person. Butterfly is the embodiment of a fragile but indomitable will to live and change. This image is about the first step towards an inner spring: when a person finds the strength to break free from the shackles of the past and breathe deeply, allowing themselves to be free. This is an act of inner liberation, the beginning of the path to their true selves.

AWAKENING

SPRING SERIES

61×80cm, 2025, canvas, cyanotype on fabric, embroidery, beads, plastic.

Three stages: winter, spring, summer — as an allegory of life cycles. Winter is a time of rest and inner work, when it seems that everything has stood still, but changes are brewing within. Spring is the moment of awakening, when the soul begins to reach for the light, and hope grows through the ice. Summer is blossoming, the fullness of life, harmony. This work is about accepting natural changes within oneself, about trusting one’s own rhythm, about the fact that each crisis is just a stage leading to a new round of growth.

WHAT AM I REALLY LIKE? #7

series What am i really like?

Fabric, heat-transfer printing, tracing paper, 43×36cm, 2025

In our inner portrait, other people’s opinions seem to act as dirty paint, hiding the true colors and details. We often appropriate these assessments, allowing them to obscure our individuality. Our living “I” gets lost under the veneer of external expectations. In an effort to understand ourselves, we seem to wander through a labyrinth, encountering many walls of attitudes. This project is an attempt to free ourselves from imposed layers, reconnect with ourselves and rediscover our uniqueness. In each work, we explore our attitudes and reflect on what it means to be real. We strive to reveal the true shades of our lives and reclaim our right to be authentic.

YOU HAVE YOURSELF

Heat transfer printing, semi-linen, plastic, thread, acrylic, 34×29cm, 2025.

The artist explores the depth of self-acceptance and self-love, addressing the viewer with a gentle reminder: “You have yourself.” The work invites reflection on how often we forget to show tenderness to ourselves, as to the person closest to us. It explores the idea of caring for our inner child—that part of us that can be vulnerable, weak, and in need of support and acceptance.

The artist invites us to stop and listen to ourselves, to see our weaknesses not as shortcomings, but as important aspects of our personality that deserve love. This exploration is about the importance of giving ourselves space to grow and heal, embracing our imperfections and allowing ourselves to be authentic.

The work reminds us: taking care of ourselves is not selfishness, but an act of deep love. Accept yourself as you are. Support yourself the way you would support someone dear to you. After all, you are the one who will always be there for you.
